Badgers slosh to 5-0 home loss to UWG

MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's soccer team suffered a soggy 5-0 Gulf South Conference (GSC) loss to the University of West Georgia (UWG) Wolves on Friday afternoon at Sage Park.

Following a 45-minute rain delay that necessitated moving the contest from Library Field to Sage Park, the Wolves (5-7-1, 3-5 GSC) used goals by Allison Smithwick in the 2nd minute and Madison Cobb in the 22nd minute to grab a 2-0 lead when the match was halted for weather in 33rd minute. When play resumed, Sadie Prince tacked on a third UWG goal in the 40th minute.

In the second period, Prince added goals in the 65th and 66th minutes before the officials ended the match for weather in the 73rd minute.

Freshman SHC keeper Hannah Linss (0-7) of River Ridge, La., made seven saves against 17 shots and seven corner kicks by UWG. Jackie Donaldson of the Wolves faced one shot and no corner attempts by the Badgers.

The Badgers (1-12, 0-9 GSC) will host the Valdosta State University Blazers (6-5, 4-3 GSC) at Library Field on Friday at 1 p.m. in a conference contest.
