Tigers stop Badgers, 6-0

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's soccer team endured a 6-0 Gulf South Conference (GSC) pounding by the University of West Alabama (UWA) Tigers on Friday evening in Tiger Stadium.

The Tigers (7-3-1, 5-1-1 GSC) got things started in the 12th minute with a goal off an assist by Lauren George. George would pick up a second assist in the 24th minute by feeding a pass to Aleah Headley that resulted in a goal. George then joined in the scoring with her own tally just over a minute later with help from TeMia Pride.

Headley fed Anele Komani for a fourth Tiger goal in the 38th minute and George would add an unassisted goal in the 56th minute. Madison Barbara of UWA tacked on a sixth goal with a bullet from just outside the top of the box late in the 77th minute with an assist by Allison Garrity.

Freshman SHC keeper Hannah Linss (0-5) of River Ridge, La., made 11 saves against 34 shots and 10 corner kicks by West Alabama. At the opposite end of the field, Jenni Aarniva of the Tigers faced one shot and one corner attempt by the Badgers. Freshman forward Corinna Soto of Louisville, Ky., took the only Badger shot of the night at the 62-minute mark.

The Badgers (1-10, 0-7 GSC) travel to Huntsville on Sunday to challenge the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) Chargers (3-7-1, 1-5 GSC) in a conference match at Charger Park beginning at 1 p.m.
