Hawks battle past Badgers, 1-0

ROME, Ga. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's soccer team suffered a 1-0 Gulf South Conference (GSC) loss versus the Shorter University Hawks on Sunday afternoon at Ben Brady Field.
 
The Badgers and the Hawks (1-9, 1-4 GSC) were scoreless after the first 45 minutes of play with both teams getting off just two shots each and SHC managing two corner kicks.
 
In the second period, Shorter took a 1-0 lead when Kristina Evans lifted a free ball into the box from 35 yards out that was scored into the lower right corner by Erin Carter in the 71st minute.
 
Freshman SHC keeper Hannah Linss (0-4) of River Ridge, La., made two saves against seven shots and no corner kicks by Shorter. At the opposite end of the field, Emily Lopez of the Hawks made one save against two shots and four corner attempts by the Badgers.
 
The Badgers (1-9, 0-6 GSC) will visit Livingston, Ala., on Friday to take on the University of West Alabama (UWA) Tigers (5-3-1, 3-1-1 GSC) in a conference match in Tiger Stadium at 5 p.m.
