Pensacola, Fla. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) volleyball closed out play at the University of West Florida (UWF) Invitational with a 3-0 loss against Harding University Saturday morning. The Badgers lost the match by scores of 11-25, 18-25, and 9-25.
Harding dominated in all aspects of play as the Badgers had their first really poor outing of the year. Offensively, Harding connected for a scorching .414 attack percentage against the Badger defense that only mustered 2 blocks at the net. Conversely, SHC hit a paltry .027 attack percentage while Harding had 7 blocks.
Bentley Odom led the SHC attack with 7 kills while
Emmarose Neibert handed out 18 assists. Along the back row, Cassidy Sterrett came up with 13 digs while
Payton Gidney had 8.
"Not a great effort this morning," said Coach
Peggy Martin. "We really never got off the bus. Harding was a very good team. They challenged us and we were not up to the task. I think our young team learned a lot and we're going to get better in the future."
The Badgers (4-3, 0-0 SIAC) will travel north to Wilberforce, Ohio to compete in the first SIAC West Division Cluster beginning Friday, September 14 at 9:00 a.m. against Lane University.
