Albany GA – The Spring Hill College (SHC) volleyball team defeated SIAC East Division foe Fort Valley State University (FVSU) at the SIAC Cross-Over tournament on Friday. The Badgers claimed the victory by scores of 25-6, 25-19, and 25-18.
SHC played the entire travel roster against Fort Valley and got several young players significant playing time. SHC hitters outpaced FVSU to the tune of a .255 to .046 attack percentage advantage in the match. SHC servers also unleashed 9 aces against only 2 for Fort Valley.
The balanced Badger offensive attack was led by
Kassandra Fairly who had 8 kills.
Taylor Hurst contributed 7 kills while
Allison Weimer had 6 and
Payton Gidney and AnnaClaire Whaley had 5 each.
Emmarose Neibert dished out 22 assists before giving way to
Jenna Picard who handed out 14 assists.
Defensively, the Badgers out dug Clark Atlanta by a 45-33 margin.
Cassidi Sterrett led the defensive effort with 14 digs while
Payton Gidney had 10.
The Badgers (14-3, 9-0 SIAC) will next face Clark Atlanta University at 3:00 PM.
