Albany GA – The Spring Hill College (SHC) volleyball team defeated SIAC rival Paine College in their first match at the SIAC Cross-Over tournament on Thursday. The Badgers claimed the victory by scores of 25-9, 25-12, and 25-16.
SHC hitters hammered out a scorching .432 attack percentage against Paine while limiting their opponent to a .155 attack percentage. The SHC serving attack got untracked early in the match as the Badgers took advantage of 12 service aces.
The Badger offensive attack was led by
Allison Weimer who knocked down 11 kills.
Taylor Hurst contributed 6 kills while
Kassandra Fairly and
Sarah Senft each had 5 kills. In total, 10 Badgers registered at least 1 kill in the match.
Emmarose Neibert dished out 37 assists while spreading the ball around the Badger attack.
Defensively, the Badgers out dug Paine by a 31-21 margin.
Payton Gidney led the defensive effort with 14 digs while
Cassidi Sterrett added 9digs from the back line.
The Badgers (12-3, 7-0 SIAC) will continue play at the SIAC Cross-Over Tournament when they take on Albany State at 3:00 PM. On Friday, the Badgers will play Fort Valley State at 9:00 AM and then challenge Clark Atlanta at 3:00 PM. SHC will close out play on Saturday against Benedict College at 9:00 AM.
