Albany GA – The Spring Hill College (SHC) volleyball team defeated SIAC East Division rival Albany State University (ASU) at the SIAC Cross-Over tournament on Thursday. The Badgers claimed the victory by scores of 25-16, 25-10, and 25-9.
SHC hitters continued their heavy handed ways as they delivered a .385 attack percentage against ASU while limiting their opponent to a .029 attack percentage. SHC was also the beneficiary of 5 service aces.
The Badger offensive attack was led by
Kassandra Fairly who knocked down 12 kills.
Taylor Hurst contributed 7 kills while
Allison Weimer and
Bentley Odom had 9 and 6 kills respectively. In total, 10 Badgers registered at least 1 kill in the match.
Emmarose Neibert dished out 37 assists while spreading the ball around the Badger attack.
Defensively, the Badgers out dug ASU by a 48-35 margin.
Cassidi Sterrett led the defensive effort with 17 digs while
Payton Gidney added 10 digs from the back line.
The Badgers (13-3, 8-0 SIAC) will continue play at the SIAC Cross-Over Tournament on Friday when the Badgers will play Fort Valley State at 9:00 AM and then challenge Clark Atlanta at 3:00 PM. SHC will close out play on Saturday against Benedict College at 9:00 AM.
