Tuskegee, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) volleyball team defeated SIAC rival Tuskegee University on the road Friday night. The Badgers claimed the victory by scores of 26-24, 25-13, and 25-17. With the win, SHC finds itself alone in first place in the SIAC West Division at 6-0 in SIAC play.
The top two teams in the SIAC West Division battled to a close first decision in favor of the Badgers. SHC held a slight attacking advantage as they hit for a .125 attack percentage against a .103 for Tuskegee. The Badger offense turned up the heat in the second and third sets outhitting Tuskegee .435 to -.030 and .379 to .214. For the match, the Badgers outhit Tuskegee .298 to .090.
The Badger offensive attack was led by
Kassandra Fairly who knocked down 11 kills.
Bentley Odom contributed 9 kills and
Allison Weimer had 7 kills.
Emmarose Neibert dished out 32 assists to the Badger front line.
The Badger defense was again stellar out digging Tuskegee 45-34.
Cassidi Sterrett (20 digs) led the way on the back line.
The Badgers (11-3, 6-0 SIAC) will travel to Albany, Georgia to participate in the SIAC Crossover this coming Thursday through Saturday. Their first match will be against Paine College at 1:00 PM on Thursday, September 27.
