Americus, GA – The Spring Hill College (SHC) men's soccer team traveled to Americus, Georgia and took home an efficient 3-0 victory against Georgia Southwestern State University.
Spring Hill made good use of its team depth during the match as 20 players saw action in the contest. The Badgers controlled play throughout using a significant time of possession advantage to keep the Hurricane attack at bay. SHC outshot the Hurricanes 26-7 overall and 12-3 in shots on goal.
The Badger offensive effort was keyed by three freshmen who scored their first collegiate goals.
Eldi Seiti staked SHC to a 1-0 first half lead when he scored in the 22
nd minute off an assist from
Tilman Schober.
Diogo Sousa added to the Badger lead with an unassisted goal to begin the second half in the 59
th minute.
George Brown would tack on an insurance goal in the 66
th minute of another assist by Schober to provide the final margin.
Alessandro Erdelyi made three saves against 6 shots on goal to get the shutout victory in goal.
"Great job by the team tonight," said Head Coach
Steve Wieczorek. "We kept a clean sheet and had three freshmen score their first collegiate goals. Overall it was an excellent performance all around."
The Badgers (5-1, 1-0 GSC) will return to GSC action when they travel to take on the University of Montevallo on Friday, September 28
th at 7:30 p.m.
