Badgers Maul Miles 3-0

Wilberforce, Ohio The Spring Hill College (SHC) volleyball team defeated Miles College Friday afternoon to move to 3-0 in conference play. The Badgers claimed the victory by scores of 25-8, 25-13, and 25-7.

The Badger offensive attack was evenly distributed throughout the match as 11 players notch kills with five players hammering out at least 5 kills. Kassandra Fairly led all attackers on the afternoon with 7 kills in just two sets of action. Taylor Hurst and Allison Weimer each had 6 kills while Emily Sullivan and Emily Greim each posted 5. Emmarose Neibert dished out 20 assists before giving way to Jenna Picard.

Serving played a big role in the victory as the Badgers racked up 15 service aces against only 1 error. SHC hit for an efficient .371 attack percentage while holding Miles to a -.073 percentage. The Badger front line held its own at the nets as they sent back 5 Miles attacks led by Emily Greim's two solo blocks.

"I thought we played pretty consistently throughout the day" said Head Coach Peggy Martin.  "It was very hot in the gym and our depth really helped us when playing three matches in one day. Cassidy Sterrett was consistent on the defense, serving, passing, and digging. I also thought that Emily Greim gave us a really nice effort off the bench."

The Badgers (7-3, 3-0 SIAC) will continue play at the SIAC West Division Cluster hosted by Central State University on Saturday with matches against Central State University at 1:00 p.m. and Kentucky State University at 3:00 p.m.
