Wilberforce, Ohio – The Spring Hill College (SHC) volleyball team defeated LeMoyne-Owen Friday afternoon to move to 2-0 in conference play. The Badgers claimed the victory by scores of 25-16, 25-10, and 25-19.
The Badger offensive attack was led by
Kassandra Fairly with 12 kills. After Fairly, Three other Badger attacker had at least 5 kills;
Payton Gidney,
Allison Weimer and
Emily Greim. As a team, the Badgers their hot offensive play combining for a .330 attack percentage keyed by the solid setting performance of junior
Emmarose Neibert who dished out 34 assists. Neibert spread the ball around as 10 Badger attackers registered kills in the match.
The Badger defense continued its solid play along the back row as junior
Cassidi Sterrett had 17 digs while
Payton Gidney had 7. SHC's defense limited Lane to a .200 overall attack percentage while recording 2 blocks.
"Again, good to play a lot of people" said Head Coach
Peggy Martin. "Now we have to keep focused and turn it around quickly for our next match against Mile in a few minutes."
The Badgers (6-3, 2-0 SIAC) will continue play at the SIAC West Division Cluster hosted by Central State University this afternoon when the take on Miles College at 3:00 p.m. The Badgers will close out the weekend on Saturday with matches against Central State University at 1:00 p.m. and Kentucky State University at 3:00 p.m.
