Mobile, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's soccer team returned home to take on GSC rival Christian Brothers University (CBU) on Friday afternoon and fell to the Buccaneers 5-0.
Christian Brothers used a balanced offensive attack, solid defense and timely play making to control the play from the outset. The Buccaneers scored first half goals in the 12
th, 24
th, and 43
rd minutes to head into halftime with a 3-0 advantage. CBU outshot SHC 9-5 during the frame.
Unfortunately for SHC, not much changed in period number two. Despite outshooting CBU 9-7 in the second stanza, the Badger strikers we unable to find the back of the net despite three excellent chances. CBU on the other hand made the most of their opportunities by scoring twice in the 56
th and 77
th minutes.
"Kudos to CBU," said Head Coach
Allison Whitworth. "They made the most of their chances. We created some nice opportunities but just couldn't capitalize today. I like how our team continues to improve each time out. While the loss is frustrating, I know that our improvement is going to pay off down the road."
The Badgers (0-4, 0-1 GSC) will continue Gulf South Conference play when they host Union University at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 16 at Library Field.
