Golden Goal in OT lifts No.25 Choctaws past SHC, 2-1
MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) men's soccer team saw the 25th-ranked Mississippi College (MC) Choctaws slip away with a 2-1 overtime victory in a Gulf South Conference (GSC) decision at Library Field on Sunday afternoon.

SHC grabbed a 1-0 lead over the Choctaws (7-0-1, 4-0 GSC) in the 29th minute when Timo Schabetsberger booted in a score from eight yards out while falling down on the rain-soaked turf off a ball passed around and into the box by Alexander Lipinski and Ibrahima Ndaw.

Despite playing a man down following Pablo Delgado's second yellow card in the 57th minute, the Badgers would then keep the Choctaws off the scoreboard until the 68th minute when Victor Bazan scored off a penalty kick after a Badger foul in the box.

In the 98th minute during overtime, Dinho Zwane of MC ended the contest with a crossing shot from the left side after Marco Profumo's pass out of the pack in front of the goal found him alone for the game-winner.

"Today was a game of two halves," said SHC head coach Steve Wieczorek. "In the first half, we scored first although we didn't play our best, but in the second half and OT we played 41 of those minutes with 10 men, but played like lions. Although I'm disappointed with the result, the commitment and resolve to win was excellent today."

Badger goalkeeper Geraldo Bina (3-3) made three saves against 18 shots and 11 corner kicks by the Choctaws while Humberto Pelaez of MC took the win with two saves against six shots and four corners by the Badgers.

The Badgers (3-3, 2-2 GSC) will return home to Library Field on Saturday to take on the Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) Hurricanes (3-2-1) in a non-conference match beginning at 1 p.m.
