Badger men stopped at UAH, 3-1
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) men's soccer team took a 3-1 Gulf South Conference (GSC) road loss to the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) Chargers at Chargers Park on Friday evening.

The Chargers (2-3, 1-0 GSC) took a quick 1-0 lead in the 1st minute of play when Corentin Diverres knocked in a goal off an entry pass by Tucker Watts. Gunnar Birgisson of UAH then put the Badgers in a 2-0 hole in the 24th minute with a shot off a rebound from five yards out.

Spring Hill answered back to cut the deficit to 2-1 with a goal off a corner kick by Eirikur Eiriksson in the 50th minute, but UAH put a third goal on the board with a tally by Jordan Wright six minutes later.

Badger goalkeeper Geraldo Bina (1-2) faced nine shots and four corner kicks with two saves while UAH keeper Myles Fullen (2-3) made four saves versus 14 shots and seven Badgers corners.

"We gave up a goal within the first minute of the game and when that happens the game becomes much more difficult," said SHC head coach Steve Wieczorek. "We scored an early goal in the second half to bring the game to 2-1, but didn't deliver the equalizing goal that we needed. It's a disappointment to create enough chances and not win, but we need to bounce back quickly for Sunday."

With the loss, SHC fell to 1-9 in the overall series versus UAH.

The Badgers (1-2, 0-1 GSC) will continue their current road swing at the University of West Alabama Tigers (2-1, 0-0 GSC) in Livingston, Ala., on Sunday at Tiger Stadium in a 3:30 p.m. kickoff.
