Kotila joined the Spring Hill athletic department staff in 2022 and serves as the primary contact for all 16 of the department's varsity teams, as well as the club teams and spirit squads. He also mentors the sports information, creative and fan engagement interns in the office. Kotila oversees the productions of all SHC athletic broadcasts.

In 2024, he was awarded the Spring Hill College "Spirit of Spring Hill" award in recognition of embodying the mission and identity of the college.

Prior to his arrival at SHC, Kotila was a Communications and Digital Media Assistant at the University of South Alabama, where he served as the primary contact for the track and field, women’s soccer and men’s golf teams. While at USA, he was featured in an article published in CoSIDA 360.
 
He was a student assistant in South’s Communications and Digital Media department while completing his undergraduate degree. His duties included assisting the communications staff with the coverage of all Jaguar athletic programs.
 
Kotila graduated from South Alabama in 2021 with a B.A. in Communications. He is an active member of College Sports Communicators (CSC) (formerly CoSIDA).
