MOBILE, Ala. — The Spring Hill College men's soccer team dropped a Gulf South Conference matchup Wednesday afternoon, falling 3-0 to No. 11 Auburn University at Montgomery at Library Field.
The Badgers fall to 0-3-1 overall and 0-2-0 in GSC play, while AUM improves to 5-1-0 overall and 2-0-0 in conference play.
AUM opened the scoring in the 32nd minute when Fabio Guerreiro found the back of the net to give the Warhawks a 1-0 advantage heading into halftime.
Spring Hill faced an additional challenge in the second half when
Gabriel Lebron was shown a red card in the 63rd minute, leaving the Badgers with 10 players for the remainder of the match.
AUM doubled its lead just over a minute later, with Sean O'Donnell scoring in the 64th minute off an assist from Jaden McKree.
The Warhawks added their third goal in the 76th minute when Brennan Greer scored off an assist from Harrington Arnette.
Spring Hill finished with four shots, including two on goal.
Bryce Barrere led the Badgers with two shots, while
Bastian Lucquin and
Sam Marquez each added one. Lucquin's attempt in the 82nd minute was saved by AUM goalkeeper Jakob Buhrkuhl.
Jose Lozano Soto made five saves in 71 minutes of action before
Cole Osborne entered and made two saves over the final 19 minutes.
AUM finished with a 16-4 advantage in shots and a 10-2 edge in shots on goal.
The Badgers return to the road Saturday, Sept. 19, traveling to Jackson, Tennessee, to face Union University at Smith Memorial Soccer Complex. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CST.
