MOBILE, Ala. — The Spring Hill College women's soccer team opened the 2026 season Thursday afternoon with a 2-0 loss to Edward Waters University at Library Field.

The Badgers and Tigers played to a scoreless first half, with both teams looking for an opening in the early stages of the match. Spring Hill finished the first half with four shots, while Edward Waters recorded three.

Edward Waters broke through in the 66th minute to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.

Spring Hill continued to search for the equalizer, but Edward Waters added to its lead in the 78th minute to make it 2-0.

The Badgers finished with five shots in the match, including one on goal, while Edward Waters recorded 10 shots with five on target. Spring Hill also held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Ava Bell played all 90 minutes in goal for the Badgers and made three saves. Sage Thomas recorded Spring Hill's lone shot on goal, while Laura Lillie Sparks, Karola Quintos Galvan, Ashlyn Wessel and Baileigh Rumage also recorded shots.

Edward Waters goalkeeper Solange Brown played the entire match and made one save to earn the shutout.

The loss moves Spring Hill to 0-1 on the season.

The Badgers will return to action Sunday, Aug. 30, when they travel to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, for an exhibition against Southern University. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. CT.
