MOBILE, Ala. — Spring Hill College mourns the passing of longtime women's basketball coach and Spring Hill College Athletic Hall of Fame member Jeannie Milling, who passed August 10, 2026, in Jasper, Alabama.

A pioneer in women's collegiate basketball, Milling made a lasting impact on Spring Hill College during her time leading the Badgers women's basketball program. Her tenure included one of the most successful stretches in program history.

Milling's 1981-82 team set Spring Hill records for wins, with 23, and winning percentage, at .767, while earning a berth in the AIAW Regional Tournament. The following season, the Badgers went 21-11 and again advanced to postseason play, qualifying for the AIAW National Tournament. The 44 combined victories across the two seasons remain the most in a two-season span in Spring Hill women's basketball history.

Milling was inducted into the Spring Hill College Athletic Hall of Fame in 1993, recognizing her accomplishments and lasting influence on the College.

Following her time at Spring Hill, Milling continued a distinguished coaching career at Georgia Southern and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. At UAB, she spent 17 seasons as head coach and guided the Blazers to multiple postseason appearances, including two NCAA Tournament berths.

While her accomplishments on the court speak for themselves, Milling's legacy at Spring Hill is ultimately measured in the lives she touched as a coach, mentor and member of the Badger family.
