Thomsit Resigns as Head Women’s Soccer Coach
MOBILE, Ala. – Spring Hill College Director of Athletics Joe Niland has announced the resignation of Samantha Thomsit as head coach of the women's soccer program.

"Coach Thomsit came into SHC in a very tough situation with our women's soccer program, her efforts to not only stabilize but move the program to being very competitive in one of toughest D2 soccer conferences in the country has been amazing. Obviously, it did not go unnoticed and that is why she has this great opportunity at the next level. I am happy she has this opportunity and wish her much success."

Thomsit, who has accepted the head women's soccer coaching position at Gardner-Webb University, departs after four seasons leading the Badgers.

During her tenure, Thomsit helped guide the program to several milestones, including Spring Hill's first-ever Gulf South Conference Championship quarterfinal appearance in 2024. That season, the Badgers posted a 7-8-3 overall record and a 4-5-3 mark in conference play, both program bests in the College's Division II era.

Under her leadership, the program also produced its first All-GSC First Team selection and first D2 CCA All-Region First Team honoree, Poppy Binding.

"I want to sincerely thank Joe Niland for giving me the opportunity to lead the women's soccer program at Spring Hill College. It has been an incredibly rewarding experience, and I am grateful for the impact our players, staff, and community have had on me both personally and professionally. While I am sad to leave, I know I am leaving the program in a strong place, and I am excited to see its continued success in the future."

Spring Hill College Athletics thanks Coach Thomsit for her dedication to the women's soccer program and wishes her success in her future endeavors.
