Bullington Resigns as Head Baseball Coach

MOBILE, Ala. – Spring Hill College Director of Athletics Joe Niland has announced the resignation of Walker Bullington as head coach of the baseball program.

"Walker has been able to continue the SHC baseball tradition here on the Hill, fielding a team that was regionally ranked and competed at a high level," said Niland. "We wish him and his family much success in their next steps in coaching."

Bullington departs after four seasons leading the Badgers, compiling a 143-74 overall record and a 108-21 mark in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) play.

Taking over the program ahead of the 2023 season, Bullington continued the high standard established by legendary head coach Frank Sims and quickly guided Spring Hill to sustained success.

In his first season at the helm, Bullington led the Badgers to a 33-23 overall record and a 25-7 SIAC mark, earning SIAC Coach of the Year honors.

Under Bullington's leadership, Spring Hill posted back-to-back 39-win seasons in 2025 and 2026. During the 2026 campaign, the Badgers swept West Alabama, who was ranked number 4 at the time, and earned a No. 5 regional ranking, the highest ranking achieved by Spring Hill in its NCAA Division II Era.

"I will be stepping away from my position as Head Baseball Coach at Spring Hill College. My wife has accepted the Head Women's Soccer Coaching position at Gardner-Webb University, and our family is extremely excited to take on this well-deserved opportunity and new adventure.

I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have led the Spring Hill baseball program for the past four years. First and foremost, I would like to thank Joe Niland for giving me this opportunity. Joe has been a mentor, leader, and friend throughout my time here. He took a chance on me as a young coach, and I will forever be grateful for that. He has been a constant supporter of myself, my family, and our program.

I would also like to thank all of our players and coaches, past and present, for their work, commitment, and representation of this program, institution, and community. I have made lifelong friends and relationships that I will cherish and carry with me throughout my career.

I am extremely proud of what we have accomplished over the last four years, and I know we are leaving the program in a great place for the next coach to continue the championship standard within this program. Thank you to everyone who has supported us in any way along the journey. Go Badgers!"

Spring Hill College Athletics thanks Coach Bullington for his leadership and contributions to the baseball program and wishes him continued success in his future endeavors.
