MOBILE, Ala. - The Spring Hill College baseball team extended its win streak to four as it defeated crosstown rival the University of Mobile, 10-9, in extra innings tonight. The Badgers improved to 25-13, while the Rams dropped to 17-23.
Trailing 3-0 headed into the top of the second, Spring Hill responded as it plated three runs to tie the game. It started when
George Bode walked and later moved to third when he advanced to third on an error by the pitcher. The error allowed
Robby Lopez to reach first. The Rams were able to turn the double play to get two fast outs and leave Bode standing on third. Down to their last out of the inning,
Alex Roux's RBI single drove Bode in to cut the lead to 3-1. Roux then stole second and scored on an error by the second baseman to make it 3-2, which allowed
Jordan Black to reach first. Black stole second and later scored off
Jaylen Jones' RBI double to tie the game at three.
Mobile retook the lead 4-3 in the bottom of the second off a double, a wild pitch, and a single.
The Badgers tied the game at the top of the fourth when Lopez, who walked and stole second to lead off. He then moved to third on a flyout to center before scoring off Black's RBI single to knot the game at four.
The Rams in their half of the fourth reclaimed the lead 5-4 before Spring Hill went back in front as it plated three runs in the fifth and two in the sixth to go up 9-4.
Headed into the bottom of the sixth up five, Mobile pushed four runs across to tie the game up.
Both teams went scoreless for the next three innings, which sent the game to extra innings.
Spring Hill in the top of the tenth, started things off with a walk from Lopez. The Rams kept Lopez close as they picked over five times before retiring the next batter on a strikeout. Now with one and Lopez still on first, Mobile picked over four more times, but the Rams were unable to get him. On the next pitch, Lopez swiped second to move into scoring position. Now with Roux at the plate, Lopez scored off his single up the middle to put the Badgers up 10-9 before the inning ended.
The Rams in their half of the tenth, got the tying and winning runs on base with one out, but back-to-back outs ended the threat and secured the victory for Spring Hill.
Reliever
Nathaniel Helton earned the win to improve to 5-1. He went four and a third innings, allowing four hits and a walk, while fanning a game-high six.
Roux and Black combined to go 4-for-12 with three RBIs and two runs scored.

Andrew Juez, and Torres each tallied a hit apiece.
Lopez paced the team in walks with three and runs scored with three.
Spring Hill is back on the road this weekend for a conference series at Kentucky State University. The series starts with a doubleheader on Saturday at 11 a.m. CT.
