MACON, Ga. – The No. 1 Spring Hill College baseball team advanced to the second round with an 8-1 win over No. 8 Kentucky State University in the 2026 SIAC Baseball Championship this afternoon. The Badgers are now 37-14, while KSU drops to 13-35 on the season.
The Badgers wasted no time getting on the board, and it started in the bottom of the first.
Jatnier Torres got things rolling when he walked and later advanced to second when
Alex Roux singled up the middle. Spring Hill then loaded the bases when
Jordan Black was plunked on the third pitch he saw.
Jaylen Jones' RBI single to right field scored Torres to make it 1-0 and keep the bases loaded. Roux and Black later crossed home when
John Webb doubled to right field to push the lead to 3-0. Jones advanced to third on the play. Still with no outs,
Gavin Moran got in on the action with a two-run double to center to plate both Jones and Webb and make it a 5-0 game.
Following a groundout for the first out of the inning,
Robby Lopez singled down the right field line to put runners on the corners. After a strikeout, a wild pitch scored Moran to give the Badgers a 6-0 lead and send Lopez to second before the inning ended.
Spring Hill later added a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth on two hits to push its lead to 8-0.
Heading to the top of the ninth, Spring Hill's pitchers allowed just six hits over the first eight innings and no runs. With KSU down to its final three outs, it was able to plate a run on one hit to cut the lead to 8-1 before a strikeout and a groundout ended the game.

Donovan Monsees picked up the win to improve to 5-1. He allowed six hits and five walks over seven innings, while striking out four and not allowing a run.
Moran paced the Badgers at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs, a run, and a double. His teammate Webb tallied a pair of hits, two runs scored, and two RBIs.
Torres, Roux, Jones, Lopez, and
Eli Benoit all tallied a hit.
Spring Hill is back in action tomorrow as it awaits to see who it plays at 2 p.m. in the winners' bracket of the SIAC Championship.
