FRANKFORT, Ky. – Thirty hits produce 37 runs as the Spring Hill College baseball team took game three of the series in a 37-10 run-rule victory over Kentucky State University to sweep the series this afternoon.
The Badgers are now 29-13 and 23-4 in the conference, while KSU falls to 10-28 and 9-18.
With one down in the top of the first,
Alex Roux reached on an error and then advanced to second off
Jordan Black's single to left. Spring Hill loaded the bases when a pitch hit
Jaylen Jones. A wild pitch allowed Roux to score to make it 1-0 and advance the other runners up 90 feet. Black later scored on
John Webb's RBI fielder's choice to push the lead to 2-0. Jones was out at third on the play. The Badgers cleared the bases when
Andrew Juez belted a home run to center to give Spring Hill a 4-0 lead.
The Badgers did not let off the gas in the top of the second as they plated another four runs on four hits. It started when
Jatnier Torres homered to center on a 3-1 count to make it 5-0. Roux followed that up with a single to the shortstop and then moved to second on a wild pitch. Black kept the inning going when he dropped a single to center to put runners on the corners. A passed ball allowed Black to take second. Jones' plated Roux off an RBI sacrifice fly to center to push the lead to 6-0. Spring Hill's Webb belted the innings' second home run, this time a two-run shot, to put the lead to 8-0 before the inning ended.
KSU in its half of the second inning pushed four runs across on three hits and three errors to cut the lead to 8-4.
Spring Hill added five more runs in the third inning on four hits, with one of the hits being a home run to go up 13-4. Then, in the top of the fourth, the Badgers broke the game open even more when they pushed 10 runs across five hits with two home runs to take a 23-4 lead.
The Badgers added three runs in the fifth, nine in the sixth, and two in the seventh, while KSU added a run in the fourth and five in the sixth.
Spring Hill secured the run-rule win in the seventh as it set Kentucky State down in order.
The Badgers as a team tallied 13 extra base hits, with nine of them being home runs.
Every Spring Hill hitter recorded a hit, with Torres pacing all hitters with five hits. He finished the day going 5-for-7 with five RBIs, three runs scored, a double, and two home runs.
Jones led the team in RBIs with eight while going 4-for-6 with four runs scored and two home runs.
George Bode tallied five RBIs and a home run, going 1-for-3, and teammate
Michael Singleton was a perfect 3-for-3 with two home runs, four runs scored, and three RBIs.
Reggie Cooper was 4-for-6 with an RBI, a double, and four runs scored, while Webb was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, a home run, and four runs scored.

Wyatt Brown picked up the win (6-0) to stay perfect on the season. He allowed five runs (three earned) on five hits over four innings.
Spring Hill is on the road on Tuesday, April 14, when it travels to Pensacola, Florida, to face the University of West Florida at 5 p.m.
