PENSACOLA, Fla. – Spring Hill College baseball team fell 2-1 to #5 University of West Florida tonight on the road. The Badgers are now 10-9 on the season, and the Argonauts are now 13-3.
Spring Hill in the top of the third took a 1-0 lead on
Jatnier Torres home run, but West Florida tied the game up in the bottom half off a long ball of its own.
Both teams went scoreless for the next two and a half innings until the Argonauts singled home the go-ahead run to take a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the sixth.
The Badgers had the tying run on second in the final two innings but were unable to convert as West Florida secured the victory.
Reliever
Bobby Lane took the loss (0-1) after going an inning and a third. He allowed two walks, two strikeouts, and a run.
Relievers
Alex Dicke and
Nathaniel Helton only allowed two hits in two and a third innings combined.
Jordan Black,
John Webb,
Gavin Moran,
Angel Rivera, and Torres each tallied a hit. Torres collected the only extra-base hit for the Badgers.
Spring Hill is back home this weekend to host conference rival Tuskegee University for a three-game series that starts with game one on Friday at 5 p.m.
