Lott Throws No-Hitter to Lead Badgers to Victory

JACKSON, Tenn. – Starting Pitcher Garrett Lott threw the first no-hitter of his career in a 20-0 run-rule victory against Lane College on the road in SIAC action this afternoon. Lott is the first pitcher to throw a no-hitter under head coach Walker Bullington.

The Badgers are now 20-12 and 15-4 in the conference, while the Dragons fall to 9-18 and 7-11.

In the top of the first, Spring Hill's Alex Roux opened the frame with a walk, and then, following a flyout, Jaylen Jones walked to put runners on first and second. Gavin Moran loaded the bases when he walked. Roux later came around to score off John Webb's RBI single to right to make it 1-0 and keep the bases loaded. Both Jones and Moran scored off Andrew Juez's two-run double down the left field line to push the lead to, 3-0. Webb moved to third on the play.  Webb then scored off an error by the second baseman to make it 4-0, which allowed Juez to take third and George Bode to reach first.

With one down and runners on the corners, the Dragons were able to pick off Bode at first, but an RBI single from Angel Rivera scored Juez to make it 5-0 before the inning ended.

The Badgers added nine runs in the second, five in the third, and one in the fifth to push the lead to, 20-0 and go on to take game one of the series.

Lott over the seven innings, walked four and hit one batter, while striking out 10. No runner reached second base. His 10 strikeouts are a career-high, breaking his previous career-high of nine earlier this season.

At the plate, Webb led the Badgers, going 5-for-5 with five RBIs and three runs scored.

Juez finished the game going 2-for-6 with three RBIs, a double, and three runs scored. Teammate Rivera tallied a home run, a double, five RBIs, and two runs scored while going 3-for-4.

Eli Benoit tallied a pair of hits, two runs scored, and two RBIs, while Roux, Jordan Black, and Jones each registered a hit.

Spring Hill is back in action tomorrow for the doubleheader part of the series against Lane. Game one is set for noon, with game two to follow.
