Badgers Fall in First Round of SIAC Tournament

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Spring Hill College women's basketball struggled to find offensive rhythm Saturday afternoon, falling 95-41 to the Allen University Yellow Jackets at Adams Gymnasium in the First Round of the 2026 SIAC Women's Basketball Championship presented by Toyota.

Spring Hill received 14 points from Libby Geisler and seven rebounds from Madison Dowling, but Allen used a fast start and balanced scoring to pull away early and never look back.

Rapid Recap:

Allen set the tone immediately, opening on a 17-0 run as Spring Hill struggled to connect from the field. The Badgers shot 2-of-11 in the opening frame and turned the ball over multiple times against Allen's defensive pressure.

Jenice Adjessom knocked down a late three-pointer, and Ta'Myla Allen added a basket in the paint to get Spring Hill on the board, but Allen shot 53.3 percent in the quarter and built a 21-5 advantage after one.

The Badgers showed improvement offensively in the second, shooting 41.7 percent from the field. Geisler provided a spark off the bench, knocking down three three-pointers in the period, while Nicole Blanch added a jumper in the lane to trim the deficit.

Despite the offensive lift, Allen continued to capitalize in transition and from beyond the arc, hitting four 3-pointers in the quarter. The Yellow Jackets outscored Spring Hill 18-14 in the period to take a 39-19 lead into halftime.

Allen widened the margin in the third, opening the half with a 10-0 spurt and pushing the lead beyond 25. The Badgers shot just 2-of-13 in the quarter, though Laurie Severe and Geisler each connected from three-point range to briefly halt the run.

Dowling continued to battle on the glass, helping the Badgers secure defensive rebounds, but Allen's efficient shooting, 50 percent in the period, stretched the score to 64-28 heading into the fourth.

Spring Hill continued to compete in the final period, with Dowling scoring inside and Geisler knocking down another 3-pointer. Madison Spychalski added a late basket in the paint, and the Badgers converted 3-of-4 free throws in the quarter.

Allen, however, shot 60.9 percent in the fourth and scored 31 points in the frame, fueled by fast-break opportunities and interior scoring. The Yellow Jackets closed the game on a 95-41 final.
