MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College women's basketball team held serve at home and grabbed an impressive 49-45 win over the Tuskegee University Golden Tigers Wednesday evening in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action.
Spring Hill improved to 8-15 overall and 6-14 in SIAC competition, while Tuskegee fell to 11-10 on the season and 11-9 in the conference.

Spring Hill pushed to an 11-point, 20-9 lead when
Ta'Myla Allen connected from beyond the arc with 7:36 on the clock. The Golden Tigers came within five points twice during the quarter, but a layup and free throw from
Madison Spychalski helped to secure a 25-17 lead at the half for SHC.
In a competitive third quarter, the Badgers briefly lost the lead at the 5:21 mark when Trinity Layton hit a layup to put Tuskegee on top 28-27. A jumper from
Ella Vallas capped a 7-0 run for SHC, putting the team up 34-28 at the 4:02 mark. However, just over three minutes later, the matchup was tied at 34-34. The Badgers ended the furious period with a 36-35 lead.
SHC built a 10-point lead after Dowling scored a layup with 6:12 to play, moving the score to 47-37. Despite the Golden Tigers pulling within two points with 1:46 left, the Badgers did enough, including getting a pair of free throws from
Allison Irby, to secure the 49-45 home win.
Notes and Numbers:
- Allison Irby led the way and notched a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Irby shot 5-of-6 from the floor and 2-of-3 from beyond the arc.
- Jenice Adjessom turned in a notable statistical effort with nine rebounds, seven points, and five assists.
- Spring Hill shot 33.3 percent (18-of-54) from the floor, 37.5 percent (6-of-16) from three, and 87.5 percent (7-of-8) at the free throw line.
