MOBILE, Ala. –
Madison Dowling led the way with 21 points,
Nicole Blanch scored 12, while
Allison Irby and
Laurie Severe each added 10 points, but the Spring Hill College Badgers fell 78-68 Saturday afternoon in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action.
The Badgers fell to 7-16 overall and 5-15 in the SIAC, while Albany State moved to 13-9 overall and 12-9 in the SIAC.

Spring Hill opened on an 8-2 run after Irby splashed a three-pointer with 6:16 in the first quarter. After the Golden Rams forced a brief tie at 10-10, the Badgers pushed for a 16-12 lead following a three-pointer by
Jenice Adjessom. However, Albany State rallied once more and forced an 18-18 tie to end the period.
The Badgers rebuilt a 23-20 advantage when Amy Elliot hit a three-pointer with 8:20 remaining. However, the Golden Rams put together a 17-5 run, taking a 37-28 lead with 2:19 to go. Adjessom hit a shot with 21 seconds left to cut the score to 39-33 before the half.
SHC cut the lead to as low as three points following free throws by
Madison Dowling with 6:35 on the third quarter clock. However, for the majority of the period, the lead fluctuated between seven and nine points before Albany State found a way to take a nine-point, 59-50, lead to the final quarter.
Nicole Blanch hit a three-pointer to bring the Badgers within six points at 65-59 with six minutes on the clock, and a layup from Irby cut the lead to six once again at 71-65 with 2:06 remaining. Unfortunately, the Golden Rams kept the game out of reach for Spring Hill in a 78-68 victory for the visitors.
Notes and Numbers:
- The 21 points from Madison Dowling marked the third time she had reached at least 20 points in a game. Dowling has reached double figures in 18 games this season.
- In addition to her 10 points, Allison Irby led on the boards with six rebounds.
- Albany State had five players in double-digit points, led by Na'Haviya Paxton and Sariah Johnson, who both had 16.
- The Badgers shot 39.3 percent (24-of-61) from the floor, 40 percent (10-of-25) from three, and 100 percent (10-of-10) from the free throw line.
