Whiteside Earns SIAC Defensive Player of the Week Honors

ATLANTA — Spring Hill College senior libero Ashlyn Whiteside has been named the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Women's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.

Whiteside, a Fairhope, Alabama, native, anchored the Badgers' defense during a perfect 3-0 weekend at the 2026 SIAC Crossover No. 2, helping Spring Hill extend its conference winning streak to 11 matches.

Whiteside recorded a team-high 52 digs across nine sets, averaging 5.78 digs per set. She opened the weekend with a match-high 20 digs against Clark Atlanta before adding 12 against Fort Valley State. She closed the crossover with another 20-dig performance against Allen.

Her defensive efforts helped Spring Hill limit its three opponents to a combined .061 hitting percentage. The Badgers held Fort Valley State to a .034 hitting percentage and Allen to .040 while sweeping all three opponents without dropping a set.

Spring Hill finished the weekend 9-0 in sets and improved to 11-0 in SIAC play.

The honor marks another conference recognition for Whiteside, who continues to serve as a key defensive presence for the Badgers as they progress through the 2026 season.
