Badgers Battle Lee to Scoreless Draw

CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Spring Hill College men's soccer team battled Lee University to a scoreless draw on Sunday afternoon at the Ray Conn Sports Complex.

The Badgers (0-6-3, 0-5-2 Gulf South Conference) held the Flames (6-3-4, 3-2-2 GSC) off the scoreboard for 90 minutes, earning a point on the road against a Lee squad that entered the contest ranked No. 9 in the South Region.

Lee controlled much of the offensive pressure in the opening half, outshooting Spring Hill 11-1. Goalkeeper Jose Lozano Soto kept the match scoreless, making three saves before halftime.

The Badgers settled in after the break, limiting Lee to six shots in the second half while creating opportunities of their own. Harry Twinn put a shot on target in the 66th minute, while Jack Ambrose tested the Lee goalkeeper twice in the final 12 minutes.

Spring Hill finished with four shots, including three on goal, while Lee recorded 17 shots and six on target. The Flames held a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks, but Lozano Soto turned aside all six shots on goal to earn the clean sheet. Lee goalkeeper Charles Carriglitto made three saves.

The Badgers return to action Wednesday, Oct. 14, traveling to Nashville, Tenn., to face Trevecca Nazarene University. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.
