MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College women's basketball team kept the contest close, but the visiting Kentucky State University Thorobreds pulled away for a 64-55 victory in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action Saturday afternoon in the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.

KSU opened the contest on a 7-0 run before
Ta'Myla Allen splashed a three-pointer with 6:34 on the clock to get the Badgers on the board. The Thorobreds controlled the first quarter and led by as much as 10 points before settling on a 20-12 lead to end the quarter following a layup from
Allison Irby.
Spring Hill posted a 12-0 run to open the second quarter, highlighted by back-to-back-to-back from
Jenice Adjessom, who splashed a pair of them, and
Laurie Severe to take a 21-20 lead at 8:04. Severe added a layup at 6:14 to cap the run. SHC led by eight points multiple times in the quarter, including at the end with a jumper from Madsion Fowling to push the score to 36-28 at the half.
Kentucky State dominated the third period and outscored the Badgers 21-10 during the quarter. Spring Hill led for the majority of the quarter, but the Thorobreds tied the game at 43-43 with 2:27 on the clock and went on to lead 49-46 after three quarters.
The fourth featured six ties or lead changes up until 5:33 on the clock, where KSU took the lead for good. The Thorobreds held Spring Hill to just two points the remainder of the game on the way to the 64-55 final tally.

Jenice Adjessom was the leading scorer with 16 points on 60 percent (6-of-10) shooting. She added six rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals.

Madison Dowling added 13 points on 75 percent (6-of-8) field goal percentage, and added four rebounds, an assist and a steal.
- The Badgers finished 43.8 percent (21-of-48) from the floor, 36 percent (9-of-25) beyond the arc, and 66.7 percent (4-of-6) at the free throw line.
