MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College men's basketball team fell behind early, but a comeback effort fell short as the visiting Kentucky State University Thorobreds collected an 81-72 win in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action Saturday evening in the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.

After a shot-for-shot start, the Badgers pulled ahead for a 12-8 lead after a layup from
Alvin Cole with 15:52 on the clock. Dashawn Hall immediately answered for KSU to pull with 12-10, and Hall later hit a three-pointer with 14:27 left in the half to give the Thorobreds the lead that the team never relinquished.
Kentucky State led by as much as 17 points with 1:34 on the clock before
Rocco Lamuno connected on a layup to cut the score to 37-22, which stood as the tally for the half.
SHC's first rally effort came in the early minutes of the second half, where the Badgers cut the lead to 43-37 after a three from
Collin Coates. However, by the time the clock reached 8:30 remaining, KSU's lead ballooned to 21 points at 65-44.
Undaunted, Spring Hill put together one more run to come within six points with 36 seconds left after a three-pointer from
Stephon MacDonald moved the score to 76-70. Unfortunately, the Thorobreds connected on five free throws down the stretch to collect the 81-72 win.

- Four Badgers finished in double figures, led by 14 points from
Nikoloz Abuladze.
Stephon MacDonald posted 12 points, while
Rocco Lamuno and
Brian Harris both scored 10 points.

Collin Coates led on the boards with seven rebounds and added six points.
- Spring Hill finished 38.2 percent (26-of-68) from the floor, 27.3 percent (6-of-22) from three, and an impressive 73.7 percent (14-of-19) from the free throw line.
