MOBILE, Ala. – AJ Swader was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings All-South Region Second Team on Wednesday.
Swader earned his third all-region honor of the season, becoming the second player in program history to do so. The Murfreesboro, Tenn., native was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) All-South Region First Team and the Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-South Region Second Team.
The redshirt junior's season included back-to-back Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Player of the Week Awards in April, first-team all-conference honors and an all-tournament selection. Offensively, he hit a remarkable .407 with a 1.219 OPS, collecting 68 hits, 12 doubles, two triples and 12 home runs.
The redshirt junior also tallied 56 RBIs and an .719 slugging percentage. Defensively, Swader posted a near-perfect .989 fielding percentage with 326 putouts and 18 assists, while contributing to 31 double plays.
