MOBILE, Ala.- The Spring Hill College softball team split the season series with Montevallo after splitting Wednesday's doubleheader at Murray Field.
Montevallo 4, Spring Hill 1
Rachel Whiddon (W: 5-4); Leighanna Turk (L: 6-7)
Spring Hill (21-17, 16-3 SIAC) was unsuccessful after trying to close the gap against Montevallo (23-20, 12-12 GSC) in the sixth inning.
Destiny Pierce had a 2-for-3 performance, including the RBI double in the sixth to put the Badgers on the board.
Amanda Glowacki and
Kaylin Fincher each secured a hit in the game.
Rycca Hinton and McKenzine King joined them on the base pads, each drawing a walk.
In the circle,
Leighanna Turk (6-7) started the game, pitching five innings and striking out two.
Lauren Glass finished out the game without giving up any hits.

Emma Curry (W: 8-5); Addy Tillery (L: 1-1)
In the second game, it was a defensive battle between the two sides, with only nine total hits between both sides.
Offensively, Pierce drove in the winning run in the sixth off a fielder's choice.
Oscha Carter stole her 18th bag of the season and scored the game-winning run off of Pierce's hit.
Glowacki earned the only hit for Spring Hill and also drew her 12th walk of the season.
Emma Curry (7-5) completed her fourth shutout of the season.
