Badgers Clinch LeMoyne-Owen Series

MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College baseball team battled to a pair of victories against LeMoyne-Owen on Friday at Sims-Galle Field.
 
Spring Hill 27, LeMoyne-Owen 13

The Magicians (13-17, 6-16 SIAC) opened scoring on a sacrifice fly in the second. The Badgers (27-9, 20-2 SIAC) responded with an 8-0 scoring run through the fourth, highlighted by a two-run double from Jackson Bell.
 
LeMoyne-Owen scored three more runs in the fourth to make it an 8-4 game. Spring Hill jumped ahead to a 14-7 lead by the end of the fifth with the help of a base-clearing triple from Nick Hunter.
 
After another scoring run effort by the Magicians, Walter Guillot kicked off another scoring run with a home run, followed by four more runs from the Badgers.
 
Though the run was once again interrupted by two runs from LeMoyne-Owen, SHC kept rolling, this time behind back-to-back home runs from Bell and Seth Williams. Guillot stacked another run on top as well to make it a 22-12 game.
 
LOC scored its final two runs of the game in the eighth, cutting the Badger lead to 22-13. For insurance, Spring Hill tacked on five more runs in the ninth, bringing the final score to 27-13.

The Badgers jumped ahead to an early 5-0 lead through the third inning in game two. LeMoyne-Owen scored a single run in the fourth to respond.
 
SHC put together a six-run fifth inning to build its lead up, 11-3. The Magicians rattled off a two-run homer in the fifth, making it 11-4.
 
Another scoring run that spanned the sixth and seventh innings from Spring Hill put things out of reach, 18-3. LeMoyne-Owen showed more life with a single run in the seventh, but was overwhelmed by the Badgers, who clinched the conference series with the 18-4 win.
