Badgers Complete Series Sweep Against Tigers

MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College baseball team completed the SIAC series sweep against Edward Waters on Saturday at Sims-Galle Field.

The Tigers (11-8, 6-3 SIAC) opened scoring in the first game of the doubleheader. Dave Mitchum homered to left field in the opening frame.
 
The Badgers (9-8, 7-1 SIAC) answered seven unanswered runs through the eighth inning. Parker Serio and Reggie Copper each recorded an RBI single apiece before EWU balked in a run.
 
Jack Taylor singled to center field and brought home a run in the fifth. Hunter tagged up from third to continue the scoring run into the sixth.
 
Jackson Bell scored the final two runs of the game, first on a wild pitch then on an error by the catcher after stealing third. He led SHC in the game with two runs and a double on two hits in four at-bats.
 
Korey Bunselmeyer (3-1) earned the win, fanned seven batters and gave up a single earned run in 7.2 innings.

EWU opened scoring again in the second game with an RBI single in the second. AJ Swader reached home on an error by the shortstop to get things started for the Badgers.
 
Enrique Baraza kept the scoring run going with an RBI single in the fifth. Jackson Bell knocked a base-clearing triple and grew toe Spring Hill lead to 5-1.
 
Seth Williams tallied an RBI single and brought home the Badgers' final run of the game. He led at the plate with two hits and an RBI in three appearances.
 
Michael Racobaldo (2-1) picked up the win with five strikeouts, no earned runs and a single walk through 5.1 innings of work. Garrett Lott earned his first win of the season after pitching a hitless inning with a pair of strikeouts.
