FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Spring Hill College women's basketball team suffered a 70-62 loss in Monday's Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup against Kentucky State at the William Exum HPER Center.
Â
The Badgers (7-17, 6-11 SIAC) trailed the Thorobreds (8-15, 7-9 SIAC) by a single point at the end of the opening quarter. Kentucky State jumped ahead by double digits in the second quarter, but Spring Hill closed the gap, cutting the deficit to six points at halftime.
Â
SHC managed to keep the game within reach through the third quarter, being down by just seven. A strong fourth quarter rally, highlighted by 50 percent shooting from distance, was not enough to overcome the KSU lead.
Â
Freshman guard
Laurie Severe led the Badgers with 21 points behind five 3-pointers and perfect 4-of-4 shooting at the line.
Marta Duda collected her seventh double-double of the season with 10 points and a game-leading 11 rebounds.
Claudia Garrido also had a notable performance that included 14 points on 4-of-6 shooting from 3-point range.
