Vargo and Whiteside Earn SIAC Weekly Awards
ATLANTA – Spring Hill College volleyball's Monica Vargo and Ashlyn Whiteside both earned Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) weekly awards, the league announced Tuesday.
 
Vargo was named the SIAC Setter of the Week for the second week in a row. Whiteside earned her second weekly conference award of the season after being named the SIAC Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Vargo recorded 88 assists through four clean sweeps at the SIAC West Division Cluster. Her highlight came against Kentucky State, where she tallied a match-leading 34 assists. The Badger offense went through Vargo, who also had 20-plus performances against both Lane and Central State.

Whiteside totaled 43 digs through four 3-0 victories at the SIAC West Division Cluster. Her highlights included 17 digs against LeMoyne-Owen and 13 versus Kentucky State. She continues to lead the conference with 250 digs while averaging 4.55 per set.

Spring Hill looks to give head coach Peggy Martin her 1,500th career win when they take on Benedict to kick off the SIAC Volleyball Crossover in Memphis, Tenn., on Friday.
