Badgers Fall to Eagles in Home Opener

MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College men's soccer team fell to Embry-Riddle, 3-1, in its home opener at Library Field on Friday.
 
The Eagles (2-1-1) opened scoring in the first half and stacked a second goal on top of that in the beginning of the second half. Embry-Riddle's Blake Leo fouled a Badger in the penalty box in the 52^nd minute and gave SHC (0-3-0) a penalty kick. Quinn Carper scored the penalty kick and got Spring Hill on the board. Embry-Riddle sealed the win over the Badgers with a late goal in the 84^th minute.
 
SHC took 14 shots and placed eight on goal while holding the Eagles to 10 shots. Izan Quesada Leal and Adrian Rodriguez both took four shots apiece. Martin Gomez played all 90 minutes between the goalposts and made four saves.

"We had a lot of control of the game. Dominated in a lot of phases. We weren't aggressive enough in our box to deal with the opportunities they created and just weren't clinical enough in their box to put away the opportunities we created. That was the story of the game really, because between both boxes I felt we were absolutely excellent. We've got to be better in both and that will be the plan moving forward to Rollins."
