Spring Hill sweeps doubleheader and clinches Kentucky State series

FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Spring Hill College softball team swept Kentucky State with a pair of shutout victories during Sunday's SIAC doubleheader at State Stadium.
 
Rycca Hinton and Meadow Villar led the Badgers (19-15, 18-0 SIAC) with three RBIs apiece. Hinton homered in game one while going 3-for-4 with three runs scored. Villar went 2-for-3 at the plate in the second game and scored twice. Amanda Glowacki also played a big role, going 2-for-3 in both games and scoring three total runs.
 
Leighanna Turk (5-7) scattered three hits and two walks while striking out two batters over 5.0 innings and earned the win in game one. Emma Curry (7-3) captured the win in game two with seven strikeouts while only giving up two hits and one walk across 5.0 innings.

How It Happened
Game One

• T1 | Hinton sent one out of the park and opened scoring with a home run, Spring Hill 1-0.
• T2 | Bailey Cox singled to score Lindsey Mecom, Spring Hill 2-0.
• T4 | Cat McCulley scored on an error by the right fielder. Emily Phillips stole home, Spring Hill 4-0.
• T5 | Taylor Pittman sacrificed to right field to score Hinton. McCulley grounded out to score Glowacki, Spring Hill 6-0.
• Hinton's hard-hit ball to right field caused an error that allowed Oscha Carter and Cox to score. Allison Mangan grounded out to score Hinton, Spring Hill 9-0.

Game Two

• T1 | Cox scored on a wild pitch, Spring hill 1-0.
• T3 | Glowacki singled before an error by the third baseman allowed Hinton and Cox to score. Villar singled to score Glowacki. McCulley singled to score Villar. Phillips knocked a base-clearing triple to score McCulley and Pittman, Spring Hill 7-0.
• T4 | Villar hit a base-clearing double to score Glowacki and Cox. Pittman doubled and brought Villar across the plate, Spring Hill 10-0.
• T5 | Kayla Coley-Drayton singled to score Alexis Yuratich and McKenzie King, Spring Hill 12-0.
