TAVARES, Fla. – The Spring Hill College beach volleyball team split results on opening day of the 2024 AVCA Small College Beach Volleyball Championships; sweeping McKendree, 3-0, before falling 3-2 to Carson-Newman at Hickory Point Beach on Friday.
 
Spring Hill (15-15) swept 16-seeded McKendree (3-12) 3-0 to start its postseason run in pool play. All three pairs of Sandy Badgers that played their games won them in two sets.
 
In its afternoon match, SHC fell to #9 Carson-Newman (19-13), 3-2, after a hard-fought battle. The pairs of Lily Mascari and Mia Saavedra as well as Linnea Beger and Ally Lane took their games to three sets.
 
Jaylyne Bell and Ashlyn Whiteside (21-19, 21-12) were victorious on the No. 3 court. Elizabeth Hardouin and Emily Weinzapfel (21-18, 21-18) won their game in the no. 4 flight.
