HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Spring Hill College beach volleyball team fell to Southern Miss and Nicholls during the first day of the Beachburg Invitational at the Southern Miss Beach Volleyball Complex on Friday.
 
The Sandy Badgers (12-13) fell in both hard-fought matches against Division I opponents. The pair of Mikayla Boyer and Mia Saavedra came away with wins in both matches.
 
Boyer and Saavedra earned a win on the No. 1 court against the Golden Eagles (9-14, 2-4 SBC) after their game was taken to three sets (21-13, 15-21, 17-15). Elizabeth Hardouin and Lily Mascari claimed the only other point for SHC in a three-set comeback victory. (10-21, 21-19, 15-5).
 
Boyer and Saavedra (21-12, 21-15) clinched their second game of the day in the first flight in straight sets against the Colonels (8-19, 0-7 Southland). Linnea Beger and Ally Lane defeated their opponents in two sets (21-12, 23-21) and earned the only other point of the match against Nicholls.
