They Said It
Head Coach Craig McVey
On the meet
"We had a really good day Thursday. We'll always be really young this fall, that's not going away, but we made a lot of progress racing Thursday. Our men still have a huge learning curve at 8,000m, but we're using that every day. Our guys competed well, we just need to be ready to make progress daily.
Our women's team is younger than our men's, if that's possible. They also have a huge learning curve in what college racing is all about, but huge progress Thursday."
On the Women's 5k
"Our women had four personal bests, two season bests, and one mark that was the fourth best collegiate time by that runner. A very good day."
On the Men's 8k
"Everyone we raced today posted a personal best, not by 10-15 seconds, but chucks of time, some well over a minute. Great progress, but more good things ahead."
Looking ahead
"Our conference meet is now under two weeks away. Both teams know there is more in the tank and can have great days at our conference meet, but that will be our toughest meet of the season to date. We need each day to make sure we're healthy and ready, this group won't wish the days to go by. They know we need every one, we still have some work to do."
