TAMPA, Fla. – The Spring Hill College baseball team's season came to an end after it fell to No. 1 Tampa, 14-5, in the NCAA South Regional elimination bracket at the UT Baseball Field on Saturday.
The 8-seed Badgers (33-23, 25-7 SIAC) fell to the top-seeded Spartans (42-10, 26-4 SSC) after they captured their first NCAA Tournament win in program history on Friday when they eliminated No. 5 Valdosta State, 5-4.
Evan Langston (8-3) suffered the loss on the mound for SHC.
UT scored the first 13 runs of the game across the fourth, fifth and sixth innings before Spring Hill answered with their five runs of the game all in the bottom of the sixth.
Seth Williams highlighted the inning with a three-run home run over the right field wall that put the Badgers on the board. Tampa plated a final insurance run in the top of the eighth to solidify the 14-5 victory over SHC.Â
