JACKSON, Tenn. – The Spring Hill College softball team split a doubleheader on the road with Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) foe Lane at the West Tennessee Sportsplex on Thursday.
Â
Spring Hill (20-20, 17-2Â SIAC) was led by
McKenzie King, who went 8-for-6 across both games. Lane moved to 33-10 on the year and 10-5 in conference play.
Lane opened scoring with three straight home runs in the first inning before Spring Hill answered with a sacrifice RBI in the second to make it a 3-1 game. The Dragons hit another home run in the second and the Badgers answered again in the fifth by capitalizing on two errors to keep the game within one run at 4-3. Lane put up three more runs to solidify its 7-3 lead. Spring Hill showed life late in the game after back-to-back RBIs from
Amanda Glowacki in the sixth and seventh innings, but came just short in the 7-6 loss.Â
In game two, the Badgers opened scoring on a two-run blast over the left field wall from
Macy Holt. The Dragons scored on a passed ball in the third to keep the game within one run (2-1). SHC scored eight more runs and only allowed one from Lane over the next three innings to take a 10-2 run-rule victory in the sixth.
