MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College baseball team's comeback effort fell short in a 10-9 loss to Auburn-Montgomery (AUM) in a non-conference mid-week game at Sims-Galle Field on Wednesday.
The Warhawks put up six runs by the top of the second inning before the Badgers answered when
Luke Sweeney hit a RBI double and
Ethan Valdez batted in two more runs to make it a 6-3 game. AUM scored four more runs over the next two innings and allowed none from SHC to go up 10-3.
Norris McClure breathed life into the Spring Hill dugout with a RBI double to center field, bringing
Bryce Anderson across the plate and cutting the deficit to 10-4.
The Badgers plated five more runs going into the ninth inning.
Seth Williams hit a bomb over the right field wall to bring the game within one run (10-9). The Warhawks held on to defeat Spring Hill 10-9.
Ethan Valdez led Spring Hill with three hits, two RBIs and one run in five at bats. Jarren Wright led Auburn-Montgomery with three hits and three runs in five at bats.
Michael Racobaldo suffered the loss on the mound for SHC, while Clayton Weatherly captured the win and Clay Slagle came in with the save for AUM.
