NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Spring Hill College softball team was swept by Xavier (La.) in a non-conference doubleheader at Wesley Barrow Stadium on Tuesday.
In the first game, Xavier (La.) broke a 1-1 tie going into the bottom of the second inning with a RBI double. The Golden Nuggets scored two more unanswered runs to defeat the Badgers 4-1.
Spring Hill showed life in game two, scoring the first run of the game and answering in the sixth inning when XULA held a 6-1 lead with three runs to cut the deficit to 6-4. The comeback effort would fall short and SHC suffered the 6-4 loss with the doubleheader sweep.
The loss snapped an eight-game winning streak for the Badgers.
Emma Curry took the loss in the first game and
Alexandra Ballester took the loss in the second game on the bump for SHC.
