Badger baseball opens season with first win in Bullington era

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Spring Hill College baseball team opened its season with a 6-2 win over Montevallo at Bob Riesener Stadium on Tuesday.
 
The win marks the first for the Badgers under head coach Walker Bullington. Jackson Bell got things started with a grand slam in the top of the third inning to give Spring Hill an early 4-0 lead. Montevallo scored a run in the sixth and seventh innings, before Bryce Anderson stole second in the top of the eighth, causing the Falcons' catcher to make an error and allow Anderson and Norris McClure to score and secure the 6-2 victory.
 
Bell led the game with four RBIs in three at bats. Reed Latimer led Montevallo with two RBIs in three at bats.

"It was awesome to watch these guys play the game today. First one of the year, on the road, and against a really quality opponent. It wasn't perfect, but baseball never is. We had guys step up and make plays and make pitches in big spots all day. These guys have worked so hard all year and they got to go out and just play today. Really proud of these guys top to bottom. Now we go back and get better and get ready for another quality opponent at home this weekend."
