Badgers start off new year with win at Benedict

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Spring Hill College women's basketball team defeated Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) foe Benedict 76-73 in its first game of 2023 at HRC Arena on Monday.
 
The Badgers started the new year off on the right foot after they shot 64.3 percent from the floor and led the Tigerettes 29-13 after the first quarter. Benedict outscored Spring Hill in the second quarter, 15-9, and captured a two-point lead (34-32) going into the halftime break. SHC fought through and came back to defeat Benedict and claim its first SIAC win of the season 76-73.
 
Tyashia Bostick led the game in her first appearance of the season with 27 points, nine rebounds, five assists and steals. Benedict was led by Mahogany Randall with 17 points, five rebounds, two steals and an assist.

"Tonight was an example of a team fighting hard and laying it all on the line to get a win. It was a great way to start the new year! [Tyashia] Bostick and [Emyria] Harris played big tonight for our team, they both hit some big shots. But overall, it was a great team win, when we got down they kept fighting and thank God we came out on the winning side."
