MOBILE, Ala. (April 30, 2022) – In head coach
Frank Sims' final home games at historic Stan Galle Field, the Spring Hill College (SHC) Badgers baseball team swept a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) doubleheader from the Miles College Golden Bears by the scores on 12-2 and 7-6 on Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Bears (23-21; 19-10 SIAC) took a 2-0 lead in the 2
nd inning of the first game, but the Badgers stormed back with a 2-run 4
th inning, a 3-run 5
th inning, and a 5-run 6
th inning that was highlighted by senior catcher
Daniel Seres' second Grand Slam of the season.
Logan Clark (8-2) went 7.0 innings for SHC, allowing just five hits and two walks while striking out 10 batters.
Kaleb Bush pitched the final frame of the game, setting the side down in order.
Kody Long (9-2) suffered the loss for Miles giving up 12 hits and three walks with six strikeouts.
Seres was 4-for-4 with six RBI in his final contest at Stan Galle Field, including a walk-off 2-out single past the Miles 3
rd baseman that drove in the Badgers' 12
th run to end the game by the 10-run Mercy Rule.

Luke Sweeney had three hits with a double and freshman 3
rd baseman
Cam Brock was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
The Badgers built a seemingly comfortable 7-2 lead after five innings in the nightcap only to see the Bears claw back with a run in the 6
th inning and then plate three runs off four hits and an outfield error in the 7
th inning to draw within 7-6 with the tying run at 1
st base.
Sims would then call his closer
Matthew Delcambre from the Bullpen to strikeout out the final batter looking for his second save of the year.
Micah Morgan improved to 3-0 on the year in 5.0 innings of work, scattering three hits and a walk with eight strikeouts. Matthew McDonald (1-1) took the loss in 3.0 innings with seven hits, two walks and two strikeouts.
Sweeney added two more hits and two RBI to his day's totals while second baseman
Frankie Timphony had three hits with an RBI. Right fielder Grany Akridge slapped a double as Brock and catcher
Bryce Walker each collected a single and two RBI.
The Badgers (34-13; 23-4 SIAC) will next begin play in the 2022 SIAC Championship Tournament in Albany, Ga. on Wednesday, May 4
th versus an opponent yet to be determined.
